Dal 6 novembre è su tutte le piattaforme digitali “This Is How (We Want You To Get High)”, primo brano inedito di George Michael dal 2012. Il singolo è in rotazione su Radio Sound dal 6 novembre.
La canzone, scritta e prodotta da George Michael in collaborazione con James Jackman, è pubblicata come singolo da Universal Music e fa parte della colonna sonora del film “Last Christmas”, ispirato alla musica di George Michael e degli Wham.
“This Is How (we want you to get high)”, registrato durante le ultime sessioni in studio di George, è il primo materiale originale che viene condiviso dal 2012. Il brano, un classico di George Michael dal ritmo funky, è stato registrato presso gli Air Studios di Londra e finalizzato alla fine del 2015. Il testo, scritto esclusivamente da George, racconta dei mali della società con la caratteristica miscela di umorismo e autoironia tipica della pop star inglese.
Il singolo accompagna perfettamente la scena finale di “Last Christmas”, la nuova commedia romantica di Universal Pictures, ispirata dall’omonimo successo degli Wham!. Il film è diretto da Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) e co-sceneggiato da Emma Thompson, con Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Michelle Yeoh ed Emma Thompson stessa. Thompson aveva incontrato George nella sua casa nel nord di Londra, nella primavera del 2013, per parlare della sceneggiatura. L’attrice aveva poi sviluppato varie versioni della storia prima della improvvisa scomparsa di Michael, il giorno di Natale 2016.
Nella primavera del 2018, dopo aver discusso su quali canzoni sarebbero state inserite nel film, Emma Thompson ha avuto un’anteprima esclusiva di quattro brani inediti di George Michael. Sin dall’inizio l’attrice si è innamorata di “This Is How (We Want You To Get High)”, soprattutto per il testo che rispecchia i temi centrali del film.
Il film “Last Christmas”, definito dal regista Paul Feig come “una lettera d’amore a George”, sarà dal 14 novembre nelle sale italiane. La colonna sonora, che contiene tre brani degli Wham! e dodici canzoni della carriera solista di George Michael, sarà disponibile dall’8 novembre.
